An amazing piano perfectly aligned with your song's direction! I was in love with your song from the very beginning. <3 The water dropping matches really well. The sidechained background pad works really well with your style as well.

I think the lead instrument is a little too loud and could've been toned down a bit to fit in with the rest of your arrangement. I appreciate the changeup near the end of the song, it's just too bad it just ends right there as well. xD

Regardless, this song is very re-playable, matches the contest perfectly, has a great smoothness to it and moves you throughout.

The first thing I hear is the piano and it sounds really forced, a little more humanization could've gone a far way with control over volume and general settings. It sounds really dry and rough around the edges. I think especially for a genre that's supposed to be uplifting.

This might just be me, but it's all too loud and screechy at some points - and I am not feeling uplifted or heavenly by this at all. xD

Especially at 0:54 you've got a bad mesh of sounds that don't match, and still not a fan of the high pitch squeels. XD I read that you are aware of the mixing and that you have writer's block problems, so I'm probably not saying anything you don't already know.

I can still tell you put effort into though though, so don't feel too bad!

dat turtlez!

oh paragon, you really like that turtles in time sound effect don't you XD

Because of this it almost feels like a remix, yet i'm pretty sure it's original. see how that works? xDD

But cool melodies going on here and an oddly refreshing rhythm! and I definitely am loving the slap bass shenanigans, that stuff is crazy. XD I'm pretty fond of how the melody is completely in synch with the sound effect, very nice touch. it doesn't nearly bend anywhere nearing the point where the effect loses it's charm! :D

You can definitely tell it's still unfinished because it repeats itself a bit, yet that only adds to how impressive it is that it still sounds that solidly woven together! I love that gated synth as well, it really adds a lot to it!

Turtles ftw xD It's probably the most awesome orchestra-hit ever!
Sounds like a resampled firebird hit. It's original! The orch.hit thingy
was inspired by turtles in time ofcourse =]
I never did a slap-bass line before, im also not sure if that bass-rhythm
can be played by a real bass player.
I used audacity to repeat it xD Very cheap i know whaha!

Thanks for the rev NT!

Good stuff!

I really like the ambient vibe most of the first half gives off! The low spiccato stabs really fill in the lows nicely, even if there's no real bass there (thoughI think I hear one stringset in the lows too, which becomes pretty apparent later on) Props for the cool piano too!

I really did smile when I heard that melody from an army of one come in, it's one of the simplest melodies I ever did and it's really cool to hear it fit better than it did in my own song in such a cool way with the brass and all, and I also liked the way you played a little with the melody to give it your own spin. :)

You really did a good job! I enjoyed listening to it very much. :)

I glad that you like it ^^.And hope you 'll enjoy all my stuff :)

Awesome!

Hey, you really did nail that 28 days later style! I love creepy atmospheric tracks with an amazing buildup+piano backing, and you really did this SO well!

There's some really subtle things in here like that soft whistle in the background that hits the right tone at the beginning, and ofcourse the low piano note to kick it all off @ 00:36. <3

Very pounding drums, gotta love that in music like this, it connects with the creepy atmosphere/heartbeat style really well, especially during the transition where it's only the drums and the soft piano, and then it kicks off again and only grows in tension from there 'till it explodes and **really** gets into that 28 days later style!

Anyway, I really enjoyed this! <3
Good job on everything!

Wow, that's a really nice comment :) I'm glad you liked it and that you catched on the little things like the high pitched ringing!
Your music is awesome too! keep it up girl!

Good cover!

It actually is a pretty good cover...

Normally I'd say how I'd love the melody (because I do) but because you didn't create the melody I can't really comment on that...

But I can tell you I liked what you did with the song! The strings feel really vibrant and the Japanese instrument really makes it feel more alive than it did in the original, although it may be a little too loud in my opinion. It really clutters the fore and middleground a bit too much... but nothing that 'breaks' the song by any means.

Aside from that, I like the drums, very simple and clean and I enjoyed the breaks and the new set of strings. :)

I was pretty hard for me to play the notes just from ear but I finished the Song in only 2 hours (which is supprising for my songs) yah, I agree the Srings are a bit too loud and I could change the EQ a bit... maybe I'll do... maybe not :P

THX 4 the kind words and the fair vote

I can't help but review again, sorry. XD Your music is really addicting for some reason. :O

The instant this song started I got this strong Metal Gear vibe, that's probably because of the background arrangement (it's a piano, right? No wonder I love it). This could totally work for a caution-phase after you've evaded everyone in the alert phase. XD

Man this is really good in my opinion, especially after 0:35 when things pick up... I can totally imagine them getting close to me and I start panicking at the exact moment the music picks up and it keeps picking up too!

This one has a perfect loop by the way! I really don't know what I could say that might be useful to you to improve on it... The percussion is solid and helps the feeling feel 'elevated', the buildup is really good and never feels out of place... this track sounds really good already, like I said I could totally see this replaced in an MGS game as it is right now!

Really good work! :D

PS: I'm gonna have to listen to your other ST tracks too!

DavidOrr responds:

Thank you! I love your reviews, they're very thorough. I definitely had the scene you created in mind while making this. It's pretty fun music to play around with, I'll probably end up making another suspense track or two later on.

Thanks for your support Nemesis!

P.S - I'd recommend against looking at my old ST Tracks, those are back when I used an old Yamaha S03 Keyboard for sounds and an old music notation program designed for Windows 3.1 (MusicTime Deluxe). I may end up remaking them at some point, but until then expect a good laugh when listening!

I'm a broken record T_T

I hear Piano and I explode XD. But a lot of people know that so excuse me for repeating myself every time I come across an awesome song that uses the piano really well XD

I actually don't hear the Piano being used a lot as a sort of driving force/rhythm in songs that much anymore, so I was surprised it was the main focus in this one... I haven't really heard a lot of your music, just bits and pieces here and there, but it all sounds very high quality!

Everything blends together really well, but I do have one little (and I really mean little) problem and it's that the drums are so... soft! :O. If it's for a conflict I would've imagined the drums having a more resounding presence, but it may have been a conscious decision by you so I'm not quite sure what to think of that - but at least you know what I think. XD

The string sets used are very nice, the guitar is very subtle - instantly likable and I like the final break into the loop. :) I barely noticed it, but that's probably NG's fault because it skips a few seconds too early. :)

Anyway, keep up the great work - I've favorited you!

DavidOrr responds:

Wow, this is a great review! The piece will actually loop properly in a .wav format, but the mp3 version never loops well. I did try and keep the drums in the background- when they're in the forefront they tend to drown everything else. It's a fine line to walk, but I've noted that down for when I go in and make adjustments.

Thanks for the great review and support, expect a return review coming your way!

I fall for everything megaman!

I don't give out 10's! Ever! What is this?!

I listen to the Megaman OST's all day long, I never get tired of this stuff! You really nailed that Megaman style on it's head! For your first try I'd say you couldn't have done any better!

you know... this would totally fit in that OST list and my friends would never know it's not from any of the games >.>

Anyway, great job!! You have my 5! <3
