Well as disappointed as everyone is right now, I was in a forum debating about whether or not this is game will be about Dante's teen years which means before DMC 1. If this turns out to be true, then instead of saying DMC is dead, we can say it's in a coma right now and we're all just waitin on it to wake up.

soooo like you i was basically slapped in the face after i saw this trailer. Being a huge huge devil may cry fan my self i couldn't believe what i had just saw but after watching a few interviews with the producers of the game i am willing to try it only because well they seem pretty damn confident that all of us will be happy with the end result of the game and this is supposed to be a origin story of Dante and that he will become the Dante we know. That is exactly what the producers of the game said. Now i am still not sold on it but am willing to try it if they seem that confident about the game. Gives me a little hope. Hopefully we do end up satisfied with the game and not the other way around.

This doesn't bode well :/ to make the best of it i'd say that this poor teen that's been dragged out of the gutter with bad habits (smoking) had to get possessed (similar to what Virgil did to Nero) by one of the best video game heroes of our time: Dante.

for some reason i still see some Dante Badassness in him except his not that trigger happy anymore :/ and Dante will simply do what he can in his current circumstance and find whatever stick he can to beat his opponents down and cant stop smoking because of his body's previous habits D:
why he looks so pissed is because of the sound track he beats his opponents with.

Personaly DMC 3 were the best, DMC 4 was a really good clone and DMC 1 got me hooked

Hope to see some more music from you Miss theory :p

Really miss them (though i still listen to them i miss the new ones :O)

P.S. don't take inspiration from the reboots music :( not my kind of taste

NinjaTheory is a great developer, but they bullocksed this up completely and they will pay dearly for this - not at my hands, or the hands of any other individual, but the collective fanbase and it's only a matter of time.

Dante should have stayed anime, nuff said.

I remember reading about it. All I gathered was "We're going to use the name of this game and familiar characters to rake in a fuck ton of money!" Which sucks. I used to enjoy DMC as well =/.

but i guess they just kinda lost the story in the midst of all of its awsome ness and left the original hanging but as long as we let Dante,Trish, Lady, Virgil, and Sparta live on in our memories

Yea I hope they change it or something really... That is in no way Dante at all, they don't even have the amulet, the white hair, Reballion, list slightly goes on and all, I linked my brother to the video and he pretty much had the same reaction that I did to it that I did, and he got me into DMC in the first place with DMC 3, and all, when I first saw Nero it was questionable but he made a good addiction to DMC 4 (IMO) and you could still play Dante. Though with the direction that they are turning with Dante isn't exactly the best, didn't we already see Dante as a teenager? DMC 3... Well either way if it's a reboot to begin with why not start a different franchise instead of leeching off the previous installment's success...

Regardless I do agree that DMC is dead though, it was one of the few series that I followed on a console, now I'm only down to one favorite series on the console while even that is taking a different turn that I don't like...

While I'm not a fan of Devil May Cry(I only owned DMC4 on the 360) I have to agree that Dante's new look sucks because it doesn't fit his personality or resembles him at all.

This sounds like a similar reaction that I once had to the preview I saw for the Smurfs movie... *sigh*...

My only idea of offering comfort is to say this much: The Dante that's gonna be in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the good old Dante we once knew. At least Capcom was decent enough to do that. And as evil as it may sound, they're probably gonna say that's all you'll get so appreciate it. :(

I, on the other, hand, am not so fazed by this news. Though DMC was good, I could never beat it and I on't know why. So, while this blows, I'm not entirely enraged. If, for some reason, there was an unsatisfactory remake of Streets of Rage in the works, well then I'd... *starts shaking with rage*

Whew, I shouldn't do that... Anyway, I tried to help and I hope it works somewhat. Looking forward to your next composition,

I'm not that much of a DMC fan, but i always loved Dante. He was the dictionary example of bad-ass.

But this....this looks like a spoiled brat who found Dante's jacked on the street and got beat up. What were they thinking!? It's like taking all the ba-ass-ness from Dante and flushing it down the toilet!!

Here's what I don't understand: They say they want to make the combat more 'God of War-like,' but God of War's combat is pretty much exactly ripped from the first Devil May Cry! (Although it wasn't as complex or interesting as DMC...)

"This new Dante might very well be a clone and not the REAL Dante or perhaps some alternate take on the genre, however, being a clone is more likely - Here's what I can deduce from the trailer -

* The character of Dante is introduced as a lab test subject, codenamed 64432P and is shown as part of a rehabilitation program, for what reasons we know not though.
* The mysterious voice which ask him again and again the same question "What is your name" might very well be some psychic power which might force his mind to belief that he is Dante even though he is not
* The sword shown in the trailer resembles the Rebelion but is shown as more darker and it can also be transformed into a whip ( a replacement of Nero's arm for the gameplay perhaps? ). Maybe the scientists have modified the Rebelion to suit their needs?
* However if this character indeed turns out to be a younger Dante than obviously the game must need to take place before the original DMC but it's highly unlikely as this Dante is not shown wearing the amulet that he and Vergil had in common!
* Also, if you will remember in Devil May Cry 3 , we could find a picture of Dante's mother where she was with her two childrens and both had white hair, while this guy does not have white hair but black.

That's about it for now, I can't come up with anything concrete from this trailer apart from these facts, also keep in mind that these are just assumptions from my end and holds no real value but it does seem likely that this "new" Dante is indeed a clone or some alternate take on the genre. Also, I really wish it is true since none of us DMC fans would want to see this kind of change being done to our beloved hero!"
